Why Choose the Additel ADT 878-425?

The Additel ADT 878-425 combines a temperature range suitable for numerous industrial and metrological applications with excellent stability and temperature uniformity. These characteristics are particularly important for achieving reproducible results in high quality comparison calibrations.

Display accuracy is ±0.2 °C across the entire range from 33 °C to 425 °C. For comparison calibrations, however, temperature source stability is especially important. At 100 °C, the ADT 878-425 achieves a specified stability of ±0.010 °C. Even at the upper end of the operating range at 425 °C, stability is only ±0.020 °C.

Temperature uniformity also supports high quality comparison measurements. At 425 °C, specified radial uniformity is ±0.040 °C, while axial uniformity over a 60 mm measurement length is ±0.25 °C.

Another advantage is the rapid temperature change. Starting at 23 °C, the reference calibrator reaches 425 °C in approximately 15 minutes. Cooling from 425 °C to 100 °C takes approximately 24 minutes. Typical stabilization time is approximately 10 minutes.

The high resolution of 0.001 °C enables detailed monitoring of temperature changes. At the same time, the large 6.5 inch color touchscreen simplifies operation during everyday laboratory use.

With the optional Process Calibrator configuration, the ADT 878-425 can be expanded into a comprehensive calibration platform. Reference probes, RTDs, thermocouples and transmitters can then be connected and measured directly.

Additional Models in the Additel ADT 878 Series

The Additel ADT 878-425 covers the medium temperature range within the ADT 878 reference dry well series. Depending on the calibration application, additional models are available for lower and higher temperatures.

For applications below ambient temperature, the Additel ADT 878-160 covers a temperature range from −40 °C to 160 °C and provides excellent stability of ±0.005 °C across its temperature range.

The ADT 878-160 can also be combined with the ADT878-TPW-KIT. This specialized accessory enables automatic realization and maintenance of the triple point of water at 0.01 °C.

For temperatures above 425 °C, the Additel ADT 878-700 extends the working range up to 700 °C and additionally provides an integrated automatic annealing function for high quality PRT sensors.

Users can therefore select between the ADT 878-160, ADT 878-425 and ADT 878-700 according to the required temperature range.

europascal can assist you in selecting the appropriate reference calibrator based on your required temperature range, sensor types and target measurement uncertainty.

Additel ADT 878-425 or ADT 875-350?

For many applications, a model from the ADT 875 series may also be considered alongside the Additel ADT 878-425. While the ADT 875 series is designed as a high performance standard dry well series, Additel positions the ADT 878 as its reference dry well series for higher metrological requirements.

The Additel ADT 875-350 covers a temperature range from 33 °C to 350 °C and is suitable for numerous industrial and professional calibration applications.

The Additel ADT 878-425 extends the range up to 425 °C while providing particularly high temperature stability and uniformity. For calibration laboratories and users with higher requirements for the reference temperature source, the ADT 878-425 provides the corresponding reference level solution.

The appropriate series depends on factors such as the required measurement uncertainty, temperature range, reference probes used and number of calibrations to be performed.

Typical Calibration Applications with the Additel ADT 878-425

The Additel ADT 878-425 Reference Dry Well Calibrator is particularly suitable for high quality comparison calibrations of resistance thermometers, PRT sensors, RTD sensors and suitable thermocouples.

During a typical comparison calibration, a reference probe and the sensors to be calibrated are positioned in a suitable insert. Once the required temperature setpoint has been selected and stable conditions have been achieved, the readings from the reference and devices under test can be compared.

The high stability and uniformity of the ADT 878-425 support reproducible measurement results. Particularly when high quality reference PRTs are used, optional external reference measurement provides additional capabilities for demanding calibration applications.

With the Process Calibrator Option, reference probes, RTDs and thermocouples can be measured directly by the instrument. Temperature switches and temperature transmitters can also be integrated into the calibration process. HART functionality additionally supports compatible intelligent temperature transmitters.

For lower temperatures, the Additel ADT 878-160 is available. For temperatures above 425 °C, the Additel ADT 878-700 extends the operating range up to 700 °C.
