Ideal for Demanding Calibration Applications

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 is designed for applications where accurate, stable and automatically controlled pressure is required.

Manual pressure generation can be time-consuming, particularly when calibrations require multiple increasing and decreasing pressure points.

The 7250 automates this process.

The operator defines the desired pressure setpoint and the instrument automatically generates, controls and stabilizes the pressure.

Typical applications include:

  • Accredited calibration laboratories
  • Factory calibration laboratories
  • Pressure instrument manufacturers
  • Pressure transmitter calibration
  • Pressure gauge calibration
  • Pressure sensor calibration
  • Pressure transducer calibration
  • Reference pressure measurement
  • Production testing
  • Quality assurance
  • Research and development
  • Automated calibration systems
  • Pressure metrology

This combination of measurement accuracy and automatic control makes the RUSKA 7250 particularly useful for repetitive calibration procedures.

Pressure Ranges up to 2,500 psi

The standard Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 is available with selectable full-scale gauge pressure ranges from:

5 to 2,500 psi

or:

35 kPa to 17.2 MPa

which corresponds to approximately:

0.35 to 172 bar

This allows the instrument to be configured specifically for the pressure range required by the application.

Permanent absolute pressure configurations are also available with ranges from:

15 to 50 psia

or:

100 to 350 kPa absolute

For applications requiring higher pressure, a 3,000 psi (21 MPa) configuration is also available.

Quartz Bourdon Tube Technology

One of the most important features of the Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 is its quartz pressure sensor technology.

The system uses a quartz Bourdon tube pressure sensor designed for high-accuracy pressure measurement.

Quartz offers excellent characteristics for precision pressure metrology, including high stability and repeatability.

Each sensor is manufactured and tested to provide the performance required for demanding pressure calibration applications.

This sensing principle is a key reason why RUSKA pressure controllers have been widely used as laboratory pressure standards.

Precision of 0.003 % Full Scale

For pressure ranges up to 2,500 psi (17.2 MPa), the standard Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 provides a precision specification of:

0.003 % of full scale

Precision includes the relevant effects of:

  • Linearity
  • Repeatability
  • Hysteresis

over the specified operating conditions.

This performance makes the 7250 suitable for calibrating a wide range of industrial and laboratory pressure instruments.

The required test uncertainty ratio should always be evaluated according to the accuracy of the device under test and the laboratory’s calibration procedure.

Excellent Pressure Control Stability

Accurate pressure measurement alone is not sufficient for an automated calibration system.

The applied pressure must also remain stable.

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 provides active pressure control stability of:

0.001 % of full scale

or:

10 ppm of full scale

This high level of stability helps ensure that measurements can be taken under well-controlled pressure conditions.

In passive control mode, Fluke specifies no additional uncertainty from pressure control.

Fast Pressure Control

The RUSKA 7250 is designed not only for accuracy but also for efficient calibration workflows.

For ranges up to 2,500 psi, the specified control response is typically:

20 seconds or less

without overshoot into the specified test volume.

Fast setpoint generation reduces waiting time between calibration points.

This can provide a significant productivity advantage when many pressure instruments need to be calibrated.

Automatic Pressure Calibration

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 is particularly suitable for automatic calibration procedures.

Instead of manually operating pumps and fine-adjustment valves, pressure setpoints can be controlled electronically.

A typical automated calibration procedure can include:

  1. Entering the required pressure setpoint.
  2. Automatically approaching the target pressure.
  3. Stabilizing the pressure.
  4. Recording the reference pressure.
  5. Recording the device-under-test indication.
  6. Moving automatically to the next pressure point.
  7. Repeating the sequence over increasing and decreasing pressures.

When combined with appropriate calibration software and measurement equipment, this process can be further automated.

Gauge Pressure Measurement

The standard RUSKA 7250 can be configured for gauge pressure measurement.

Gauge pressure is measured relative to atmospheric pressure.

Available full-scale gauge ranges extend from 5 psi to 2,500 psi, enabling the controller to cover a broad range of industrial pressure applications.

Typical devices include:

  • Mechanical pressure gauges
  • Digital pressure gauges
  • Pressure transmitters
  • Pressure sensors
  • Pressure transducers
  • Pressure switches
  • Reference pressure instruments

Absolute Pressure Measurement

Absolute pressure capability is also available for the Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250.

Permanent absolute pressure ranges from 15 to 50 psia (100 to 350 kPa) can be configured.

For suitable gauge-pressure configurations, absolute pressure measurement can also be supported using an optional barometric reference sensor.

The optional barometric reference has a specified maximum error of:

0.002 psi (0.014 kPa) per year

This provides additional flexibility for laboratories that need to calibrate both gauge and absolute pressure instruments.

Negative Gauge Pressure

Optional negative gauge pressure operation is available for suitable configurations.

This enables the Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 to control pressures below atmospheric pressure.

Negative gauge pressure capability is useful for:

  • Compound pressure gauges
  • Vacuum transmitters
  • Low-pressure sensors
  • Negative gauge pressure instruments

An appropriate external vacuum source is required depending on the selected configuration and operating mode.

Vacuum Reference Option

A vacuum reference option is available for appropriate 7250 configurations.

This enables pressure to be referenced to a high-quality vacuum instead of atmospheric pressure.

For the 7250 and 7250i, Fluke specifies a vacuum reference maximum error of:

0.0002 psi (0.0014 kPa) per year

An external vacuum pump is required.

This capability is particularly valuable for high-accuracy absolute pressure calibration.

High Display Resolution

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 provides selectable display resolution up to:

1:1,000,000

High display resolution allows small pressure changes to be clearly observed.

This is particularly useful when working with high-resolution devices under test or evaluating pressure stability.

Display resolution should not be confused with measurement accuracy, but it is an important practical feature for high-precision laboratory work.

Long-Term Stability

Long-term stability is especially important for pressure standards used in calibration laboratories.

For ranges up to 2,500 psi, the Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 has a specified stability of:

0.0075 % of reading per year

Stable sensor performance helps reduce changes between calibration intervals and contributes to predictable measurement uncertainty.

Regular calibration is nevertheless essential to maintain metrological traceability.

Calibration of Pressure Gauges

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 is ideally suited for automated calibration of mechanical and digital pressure gauges.

The controller generates a defined reference pressure and automatically stabilizes at the required setpoint.

The indication of the device under test is then compared with the reference value.

Calibration can be performed at several increasing and decreasing pressure points.

Depending on the applicable calibration procedure, this enables characteristics such as:

  • Indication deviation
  • Repeatability
  • Hysteresis
  • Zero deviation

to be evaluated.

Calibration of Pressure Transmitters

Pressure transmitters can also be calibrated efficiently using the RUSKA 7250.

The pressure controller generates and measures the required reference pressure while suitable electrical measurement equipment records the output signal of the transmitter.

Typical output signals include:

  • 4–20 mA
  • Voltage
  • Digital communication

When combined with appropriate electrical measurement equipment and calibration software, the RUSKA 7250 can form the pressure generation and reference component of a highly automated transmitter calibration system.

Calibration of Pressure Sensors and Transducers

Pressure sensors and transducers are widely used in industrial automation, aerospace, automotive engineering, research and process control.

The Fluke Calibration RUSKA 7250 provides stable and accurately controlled pressure for testing these devices.

Automatic pressure generation is especially beneficial when sensors must be characterized over many pressure points or multiple measurement cycles.

Repeatable pressure sequences can help improve consistency during sensor characterization and production testing.

Laboratory Automation

The RUSKA 7250 was designed for integration into automated calibration systems.

Remote communication allows the pressure controller to receive setpoints and return measurement information to a computer-controlled calibration system.

This makes the 7250 suitable for:

  • Automated calibration workstations
  • Production test systems
  • Sensor characterization
  • Repetitive pressure calibration
  • Research systems
  • Computer-controlled measurement sequences

Automated pressure generation can significantly reduce operator workload when large numbers of devices need to be calibrated.

RUSKA Heritage and Fluke Calibration

RUSKA has a long history in high-accuracy pressure metrology.

Today, RUSKA pressure calibration technology is part of Fluke Calibration.

The Model 7250 is therefore often found under both names:

RUSKA 7250

and

Fluke Calibration 7250

For existing laboratories using RUSKA equipment, this continuity is particularly relevant when replacing, expanding or servicing existing pressure calibration systems.

7250, 7250i and 7250xi

The 7250 series includes several performance levels.

The standard 7250 provides precision of 0.003 % FS for ranges up to 2,500 psi.

The 7250i and 7250xi extend the series with percent-of-reading performance.

Depending on the selected model and pressure range, these versions provide precision down to:

0.005 % of reading

over specified portions of their pressure ranges.

This allows users to select the version that best matches the required range coverage and measurement uncertainty.
